Hello lovely people of the crochet world. Today I am going to spend some time explaining the details about the Lovestruck afghan blocks collection. You see, with the majority of my communications currently on Facebook, I tend to forget that I have a blog where I may squawk as much as I want and easily reference the information later. Two things Facebook isn’t great for.
Pattern Details
The Lovestruck collection is my first attempt at providing patterns that pack a wallop in their versatility. I have a hard time following instructions. I don’t even really think of them as instructions. They’re suggestions in my mind. If you follow them you’ll get exactly the product offered, but I don’t necessarily want the exact product offered. Sometimes I want to mix things up. And that’s exactly what I want you to do with the blocks in this collection. Mix them up. Here’s how.
Imagine 12 different 9 inch squares. Each square comes with additional, optional rounds to make it a 12 inch square. But here’s the catch:
All of the additional rounds are interchangeable among Lovestruck 9 inch squares. That gives you 144 possible combinations for 12 inch squares in one collection.
Wait, I’m not done! (Do I sound like a used car salesman yet?)
The additional rounds can also function as borders for any square or rectangle with an appropriate stitch count per side and instructions are included for doing so. And, I promise in the future we’ll delve deeper into tricks and tips on how to get the right stitch count per side on squares and rectangles. So, please, stay tuned for that.
Each pattern will also include a color placement sheet and photos and photo tutorials as necessary to explain the trickier rounds and stitches.
The patterns will be released in couples with a few weeks in between releases. The first couple has already been released.
Price & Promotion Details
Each pattern will be sold individually on Ravelry.com for $2.49 each. But! Upon the release of each couple, a promotional coupon code will be issued to get both squares for the price of one for an entire week after the release. You will need to add both patterns to your shopping basket and then add the coupon code. But, if you happen to check out before adding the second pattern to your shopping basket, just go back and add it and the code. The code will still work and you should get the second pattern for free. Please message me if you have any problems (facebook will usually get you the fastest response). I stay on high alert during a promotion so that I can help anyone who has trouble with the coupons.
A couple questions I’ve been asked a lot recently are: “Can I get the previous couples at a discount too?” and “Will there be a discount for buying all the couples at once?” I’ll explain how I’ve structured this and why, by starting at the end. When all 12 patterns are published I will offer them as a bundle on Ravelry for $24.90 – that is the cost of 10 patterns.
By doing it this way, I’m making sure that best deal possible can be had right now rather than by waiting. So… if you’ve been following since the beginning of the collection you’ll have had a chance to get all 12 patterns for the price of 6. If you’ve been following since couple 2, you’ll have had a chance to get all 12 patterns for the price of 7. If you’ve been following since couple three it will be all 12 for the price of 8, and so on. But, by the time all 12 patterns are published, those who are still new to the collection will have the option to buy them all at once for the discounted price, which will be equal to the deal had by those who’ve been around since couple 5.
Wow, this gets complicated. But I hope you can appreciate what I’m trying to do. I hate missing a sale, but I hate buying something and then seeing it on sale a couple weeks later even more. So I’m trying to avoid doing that to you. That’s not to say these patterns will never ever be on sale again. But I do plan to keep them on the special and more exclusive list.
Etc.
The best place to stay up to date with the new releases and coupon codes is by following my blog here, or liking Every Trick on the Hook on Facebook. Make sure if you decide to follow me on Facebook to select the “get notifications” or “see first” options.
And yes, I reserve the right to change the price of the patterns or the terms of the promotion at any time without notice. Though, I sincerely hope there is no reason to bother doing that.
Now, I know you’re wondering: When will the next couple be released? And I’ve left the timeline up in the air for two reasons. 1. To keep you on your toes. 2. Because my personal life is super crazy right now and I can barely keep up.
Ideally, I would love to release two patterns every two weeks and get this wrapped up before Christmastime, but for now, and just until something in my life gives, we’re going to shoot for a couple every month.
That’s all for now. I hope you’re excited, with your hook in hand, and color palettes at the ready.
Please, please, please, ask me questions in the comments or on Facebook or Ravelry! If I’ve left anything out I’ll edit this post with the information so we can reference it later as the couples are released.

Hi Edith! I’m so glad you like the collection. I’m working on getting a newsletter going so those who like to keep up with releases can get an email about it. For now, you should know the latest couple, Johnny & June, was release this week! They are available right now for the promotional price. You can get them here: http://www.ravelry.com/bundles/lovestruck-collection

Hi, have just purchased the 2 latest , Rick and Ilsa, I have been keeping an “eagle eye” on this site as well as Ravelry, just so as to not miss any other new squares. I have started a “Mans Blanket” colours in grass green-tan-silver.
Have used 4 Lise for the centre focal square, 4 Inara for the corners,(maybe) and have made up a square that is not so “heavy” in texture, for the rest.
If I can sweet talk my Son when this is finished, I will ask him to somehow send you a picture of it.
Have a problem, don’t know why, but I just cannot seem to get Blizzard Warning done, seem to get stuck, but not only a row, seems I can’t get any of it right.I have no idea why, but I’ll keep trying. Anyone have any ( hhmmm) suggestions?
Thanks Polly,
Edith Bell

Hi Edith! I’m so excited to hear about your afghan in progress. I hope your son decides to help upload pictures. I would love to see it. 🙂
Blizzard Warning certainly can be tricky. Have you tried watching the video? Or, if you prefer, feel free to let me know where you’re stuck and I’ll do my best to help – just email me at polly@everytrickonthehook.com
Thanks!

My Son has taken some pics and put them on my computer, but I will have to figure out how to get them to you by email.
I havn’t put it together yet, as he doesnt get here every week, I had to make do with placing the blocks on my bed as they are.
Hope I get this right.

Hi Edith! I got your pictures via email. Thank you, your blocks are so lovely! Really great work, and nice and manly. 🙂

Polly, thanks for letting me know you got my pics. Sometimes we just have to be lucky with this new technology.
I have started to get things together and will make up a load of squares with all the ones I’ve found on the net, and do one of these CAL things.
Thanks also for pointing me to the video for the Blizzard Warning, it has explained so much for me. I must have had a “mental block of old age”, but now its all working again.
Looking forward to your newsletter.
Thanks again for everything,
Edith

I love your designs, especially those within your collections. I also love the way that you write out your instructions – very clear and easy to follow! I am a perfectionist in the things I do, so it is nice to see well written directions.
I came upon Victor, the first block of of your newest collection – Love-Skunked. It is another great block!
I recently realized that all 12 of The Lovestruck Collection have been completed. I first came upon them when at least half or more were out. So I decided to wait until all 12 were done. I thought it was only a month or so ago that I realized that they were done. But I have been so busy that one month has turned into four or five months! Can you relate? My question or dilemma is that I’m not sure how to order the whole set of 12now, and can I still get it for the price of $24.90? I would so much like to have that collection of squares as well as the 12 different borders. Please let me know how to order them.
I love your work! Keep on designing!

Hi Gayle! Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m thrilled that you are excited about the patterns. You can get all 12 squares of the Lovestruck Collection in my Ravelry store, but I can make it easier for you. Click on this link and it will automatically add all 12 patterns to your cart, and yes, the price is $24.90 for all of them (but they much all go into your cart at the same time to get the discount to work): http://www.ravelry.com/redeem/polly-plum-fiber-arts?sale=59947
If you would like to view the patterns individually on Ravelry, here is the link for that: http://www.ravelry.com/bundles/lovestruck-collection

Polly:
I have been on ravelry’s website trying to purchase the collection, however, something is wrong with their website. I cannot go as far as purchasing. I’ve tried several different computers as well as my iPhone. Is there another way or site that I can go to in order to get the patterns.
Polly says
I’m sorry it’s giving you problems! Unfortunately, for the time being, that is the only place to purchase the patterns. You may just have to wait until they get things straightened out, but they are usually pretty good about fixing things in a timely manner. Please feel free to let me know if it doesn’t get worked out and I can investigate further. Thanks!
