Introducing square 7 of the Stardust Melodies Crochet Along – Mack the Knife. This free pattern uses a stitch I created just for this purpose to get a nice pointy triangle shape. I also included an alternate stitch if you find you don’t love making the triangles. Click here to go straight to the pattern and video tutorial.
I’m particularly fond of the texture of this square. Yes, the triangles are pretty cool, and I feel so clever, but what I really love is this view…
Sometime about this pattern really makes me want to run my fingers over the texture, and I find myself doing exactly that every time I walk by it.
This pattern can easily be enlarged to any size you want. Just repeat rounds 8 through 15. Each repeat will have more teeth/triangles, of course, but by round 15 you’ll have the idea.
This square is named after a jazz standard that has been done by nearly every musician ever. Seriously, how many times has this song been recorded? Even the Muppets did it! It still manages to be fun and catchy, though. Check out the new additions to the Stardust Melodies Crochet Along YouTube Playlist to hear some really unique versions.
This square is a free-for-everyone pattern which means the pattern is available free to view and print from everytrickonthehook.com and the video tutorial is free to view via YouTube.com. If you purchased the Stardust Melodies eBook you’ll received an update with a printable PDF version of the pattern and the chart that is exclusive to the eBook.
If you have yet to purchase the eBook you can get it in my Ravelry store for 33% off with coupon code “stardust” through July 3, 2017, or click here to buy now.
Have fun!

I would find it really helpful to know how many stitches I should have after each row. Do the rows (the simpler rows) increase by 2 stitches each time or 1?
