Chainless Starting Double Crochet
Chainless starting double crochet (or, cdc) is used to start a new row or round when you’re continuing with the same color of yarn.

Foundation Double Crochet
Foundation double crochet (or, fdc) is used in place of a long starting chain and row of dc made into that chain.
